FIS prepares a new English-taught undergraduate program!

The Faculty of Informatics and Statistics (FIS) is happy to announce that we are preparing a new English-taught undergraduate (Bachelor) program Economic Data Science.

It will be the very first Bachelor’s program fully taught in English at FIS. Since 2015, we have offered two Master’s degree programs in English – Economic Data Analysis and Information Systems Management. We will complete the list now, finally, with a Bachelor program.

The Economic Data Science (EDS) Bachelor’s program is a three-year/six-semester program, for 180 ECTS credits. The main focus of this program will be the following areas: Data Science, Statistics, Econometric, Data Analysis and Critical Thinking.

EDS graduates will be specially qualified for positions where data analysis and economic indicator interpretation are required. They will also be able to work with various data sources. They can work for example as Economic Data Scientist, Business Analyst, Economic Data Manager or Economic Data Consultant. Or of course, they will be entitled to continue their studies at the graduate level.

The academic guarantor of the EDA program doc. Ing. Mgr. Petr Mazouch, Ph.D. says: „The Bachelor’ s program in Economic Data Science is designed for students who want to work in important and well-paid positions in companies or the public sector. Their job will be working with data on which fundamental decisions are based. They can not only evaluate the date, but also analyze it more deeply thanks to advanced statistical and econometric methods. And thanks to the connection with the economy, they will be equipped to make decisions at the highest level.

Applications will open in mid-December, application deadlines are 28 February (for applicants from non-European countries) and 30 April (for other applicants).

The tuition fee is 5.000 EUR per academic year.
